Main duties of the job
* Plan, implement, and evaluate activities for patients, both individually and in group sessions.
* Be responsible for the upkeep and appearance of the Ward/Department area.
* Ensure the removal of clutter, clear signage, and the tidiness of storerooms.
* Liaise with Housekeeping Supervisors to arrange specialist cleaning and curtain changes.
Person Specification
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
* Basic Literacy and numeracy skills
* A knowledge and willingness to develop basic skills and competencies relevant to the role
* Able to work well within a team and individually
* Effective communication which may require some tact and persuasion within a group and on a one-to-one basis
* The ability to work calmly and efficiently when under pressure
* Able to relate to all grades of staff e.g. taking directions from superiors
* Ability to cope with occasional exposure to aggressive behaviour
* Ability to deal calmly with patients with distressed or anxious behaviour
* Good verbal and written communication skills
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education including GCSE's.
* Training relevant to therapeutic activity related courses
Further Training
* Willingness to attend mandatory SFH trust training
* Identify own learning needs
* Food hygiene certificate
Experience
* Working with people with mental health problems
* Experience in Occupational Therapy
Contractual Requirements
* Part time hours, to be flexible due to patient needs and requirements
