Main duties of the job
* Maintain a professional attitude at all times, developing the role of the Resuscitation Officer in the best interests of the patient and profession.
* Provide specialist resuscitation advice and act as a resource, providing clinical expertise and support to all service managers and health care professionals.
* Meet requirements of the Resuscitation Council (UK) to maintain cardio-pulmonary resuscitation accredited provider/instructor status.
* Plan and deliver the teaching, assessment and evaluation of resuscitation skills teaching methods to all staff members.
* Ensure safe use of resuscitation equipment such as defibrillators and simulation skills equipment through training, assessment, and evaluation.
* Act as a role model actively seeking opportunities to enhance the knowledge of others in issues relating to resuscitation.
* Possess knowledge of research and audit.
* Collate information to create and format spreadsheets, databases and reports using computerised systems.
* Possess developed communication skills.
* Work collaboratively with others, appreciating the roles of other staff and agencies involved in the care of patients to ensure optimal safe patient care.
* Liaise with emergency teams and assist with the management of deteriorating patients, ensuring resuscitation guidelines are implemented.
* Prepare for exposure to distressing and emotional circumstances.

Job responsibilities
* Operationally manage all resuscitation services across the Trust.
* Provide professional advice and consultancy to the Trust on all aspects of cardio-pulmonary resuscitation including policy, risk assessment, infection control, equipment purchase and audit.
* Initiate research and implement and monitor robust audit mechanisms for cardiac arrest calls, equipment, DNACPR (ReSPECT), training needs analysis, effectiveness of clinical practice and training outcomes.
* Lead, co-ordinate and deliver appropriate cardio-pulmonary resuscitation training to all Trust staff and learners.
* Operationally manage the resuscitation skills room as a multi-professional education and training resource.
* Work in collaboration with other clinical education providers to provide high quality accredited courses.
* Manage the resuscitation education budget and income generated through accredited courses.
* Provide specialist knowledge, advice and guidance on resuscitation education and related issues for all staff and managers within the Trust.
* Promote and support an active approach to resuscitation education and service development across the Trust.
* Act as the Lead for resuscitation and present reports to Resuscitation Committee, Learning Operations Group and Patient Safety Learning Collaborative Group when necessary.

Person Specification
Experience and Knowledge
* 2 years working at Band 6 or above
* Experience of managing teams in a senior position
* Relevant clinical and management experience
* Demonstrate the ability to educate both in the clinical and classroom setting
* Able to mentor and assess students and other health care staff
* Proficiency in a wide range of clinical and resuscitation skills
* Demonstrate ability to promote best practice and apply evidence-based practice
* Demonstrate excellent knowledge and safe use of healthcare equipment
* Experience with staff management, recruitment, induction, mentoring and appraisals
* IT literate with experience of word processing, database, spreadsheets and email
