About the job:
The Treasury Management team at Walsall Council is looking for an enthusiastic Transactional Assistant to help with the management of the day to day treasury function. We’re a friendly and inclusive team, working closely with other specialist teams within the Technical Accounting and Treasury Management function.
Roles and responsibilities
1. Processing of the council’s daily cashflow management process in liaison with the Finance Business Partner for Treasury Management.
2. Ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and control documents, ensuring compliance with agreed processing methods and procedures.
3. Validate financial transactions ensuring compliance with agreed procedures.
4. Processing of the council’s manual payments.
5. Processing of the council’s cheques - scanning cheques, entering coding on to the system and banking the physical cheques.
6. Monitoring of the Treasury mailbox to ensure queries are dealt with and allocated correctly.
7. Any other duties commensurate with grade of the post as directed by senior colleagues including supporting reconciliations for the council’s overall bank reconciliation.
About you:
The successful candidate will have skills in the following areas:
1. Possession of or willing to study for a business & finance qualification at NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
2. A proactive approach to problem-solving.
3. Experience of working within a finance environment.
4. Understanding of finance systems such as Oracle.
5. Experience with banking software would be desirable.
