European Express Operator – Lichfield – Up to £28, plus bonus
Our client who are an independent freight forwarder are looking for a European Express Operator to join their team in Lichfield.
As Euopean Express Operator, you will be tasked to provide additional operational assistance to the European Road Freight team, allowing further development of the company’s freight offering with existing customers whilst building relationships with suppliers and customers alike.
You will be responsible for the delivery of operational activities, in accordance with targets set, to contribute to achievement of the company vision and overall business objectives, as well as performing to high quality standards.
Full Time: Permanent
Hours: 08.30 – 17.30 Monday – Friday

Day-to-day:
6. Look after all the customers who book full, part load and groupage, import and export shipments to and from Europe.
7. Build and nurture good working relationships with existing customers.
8. To increase business from existing, lapsed and recently gained clients.
9. Be able to confidently cross sell other services to the existing client base via the CRM system.
10. To generate sales / profit linked directly to the current business plan. Focus and drive to achieve targets.
11. Taking phone/e-mail enquiries from customers and quoting clients on their shipments, providing the best price and solution.
12. Liaising with suppliers and negotiating prices with them.
13. Using various freight exchanges and freight platforms.
14. To identify any new revenue opportunities from existing customers and effectively present key features of their services (new and existing) to secure new business for other markets.
15. Logging quotes on the internal Quote Tracker.
16. Dealing with EU customs brokers by instructing them to complete clearance.
17. Administering the whole booking process (with customers and suppliers), inputting bookings onto our bespoke TMS and tracking loads from booking to delivery.
18. Covering shipments with suppliers, whilst proactively updating our customers on every milestone. Checking on shipments on the day of loading, through to delivery
Requirements:
19. Good overall knowledge of various modes: pallet / groupage / part and full / pallet networks / customs (various docs, incoterms etc).
20. EU and UK customs knowledge and understanding is required.
21. Good overall knowledge of European freight industry and markets.
22. To be well-organised and thorough, even under pressure.
23. To enjoy working within a target-driven team environment – Be a team player.
24. Must be Professional and respectful to all stakeholders (colleagues, customers, suppliers etc).
