To undertake any other duties, appropriate to the grade, as required by the Senior Dental Officer or Associate Clinical Director. To ensure that high standards of clinical care are maintained at all times through Continuing Professional Development. To maintain the strictest confidence in relation to patient information whether informally or formally recorded.
To have an understanding of the dental officer's responsibility in relation to Clinical Governance, participating in clinical audit and peer review.
To participate in regular appraisal with their Line Manager in order to help identify training and development needs, as per GDC expectations. To initiate quality standards within the department and to participate in quality initiatives within the UHB.
To use the ACORN toolkit to accurately record and communicate the risk and needs of patients. To deliver evidence-based prevention as per the Delivering Better Oral Health: An evidence-based toolkit, including the delivery of fluoride varnish and/or fissure sealant application on all patients, especially as appropriate.
To implement dental recall periods based on oral health risk and needs assessment and following NICE guidelines.
