As a Clinical Psychologist, you will be offering high-quality psychological care to children and young people experiencing significant and complex mental health difficulties and their families. You will bring advanced formulation skills and consultation to your team alongside wider service development contributions. You will have regular clinical supervision and separate line management. You will be supported with a job plan and opportunities to develop supervision and leadership skills alongside using research skills and engaging in service development. The Paediatric Psychology Service aims to support children and young people to manage the psychological impact of living with a physical health diagnosis as part of their paediatrician-led care. Key objectives include reduced levels of distress associated with the medical condition and/or treatment, adjustment to living with a health condition, improved quality of life and collaborative working to improve treatment adherence and active participation in health management. The service is delivered within both inpatient and outpatient hospital provision., The objectives of the service include: Reduced psychological distress and functional impact of health condition and/or treatment Improved treatment adherence and adjustment to health condition Improved individual and/or family function in relation to wider impact of health condition and/or treatment Improvements in psychological wellbeing and combined health/mental health outcomes Comprehensive Psychological Assessment Collaborative Psychological Formulations to inform understanding and intervention Identification and delivery of appropriate Intervention model and patient-identified goals Provision of psychologically informed resources/information and wider service signposting Referral on to partner agencies where required/necessary e.g. Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services; ASC (Autism) Pathway, Post qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to children and young people We are passionate about our work and are committed to providing high quality services across Devon to improve outcomes for children and young people., We would like the people who work for Children and Family Health Devon to be understanding, patient and respectful. Active registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC., Post qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervision., Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice. Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies Experience of working with a range of children and young people with complex needs maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse Experience of undertaking specialist psychological assessments and providing evidence based interventions, with the ability to work with complex needs and undertake risk assessments. Experience in providing teaching and training Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate. Experience that evidences an ability to attend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice. Experience of managing and processing emotionally distressing information, seeking support as required, Experience in using neuropsychological assessments of cognitive functioning and/or learning disabilities in the context of diagnostic assessments of learning disabilities. Experience of the assessment of capacity to consent and providing consultation to capacity assessments across a range of issues., Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to children. High level knowledge of Clinical presentations in children and young people Ability to travel and work in a variety of locations, e.g. clinic base, schools, home visits. CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.
