Project Manager: Macmillan - Improving the Cancer Journey

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is pleased to offer an opportunity to appoint to a new role of 'Macmillan Improving the Cancer Journey Project Manager'. This exciting new role, funded by Macmillan but employed by the Health Board, offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of people affected by cancer.
Over the last 30 years, there have been significant changes in cancer treatment, and now more people than ever are surviving cancer. The successful candidate will lead a project around embedding an 'Improving the Cancer Journey' model across the Cardiff & Vale UHB footprint.
The role will deliver clear and specific recommendations, with options as appropriate, to provide a sustainable, supportive, integrated community model of care to better support people living with cancer in the Cardiff and Vale area, developing a clear, measurable, achievable yet aspirational recommended course of action to ensure that everyone with a cancer diagnosis can access holistic support and advice when they want it and in the format of their choosing.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will work to gather a comprehensive understanding of the current situation and take a proactive approach to working in partnership with a broad range of stakeholders including cancer charities, wider third sector organisations, and statutory and private sectors to ensure inclusivity in the scoping process, with a core focus on improving the cancer journey for everyone.
The successful candidate will need to show their ability to lead, support, and coach others, work effectively within a team and independently, evidence excellent communication, organisation, and negotiation skills, and demonstrate situations where effective leadership skills have been used for improvement.
The ability to travel across Cardiff & the Vale will be essential.
This position is fixed term for 12 months due to funding.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in clinical qualification
* Master's level qualification in an appropriate area
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Understanding of the work and strategic focus of Macmillan Cancer Support
* Significant post-graduate experience of managing projects with demonstrable outcomes, including relevant experience in a specialist field.
* Competent IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office and data analysis to provide evidence of project outcomes.
