Are you looking for a unique opportunity to join a small and experienced team working mainly with the Gypsy, Irish Traveller and Fairground Community residing in Leicestershire, Leicester City and Rutland.
About the Role
You would be based predominantly at the Multi Agency Travellers Unit, however, much of the work is carried out on caravan sites and in clients’ homes across Leicestershire and Rutland. The working hours can be flexible with the need to work around operational demands.
Duties include regular visits to well-known fixed sites and temporary camps along with other members of the team as well as assisting with the management of the two County Council Caravan sites when necessary.
Work is fast paced and reactive, working directly with families, the role will allow you to liaise with a variety of agencies and statutory bodies, assisting with a range of tasks supporting and enabling these groups.
Previous experience of working with the community is not essential as training will be provided. You will gain an understanding of the needs and barriers of the community. There is real flexibility to make this job your own and to build upon your skills along with the team to make a difference.
The role will touch upon a wide range of disciplines including planning, housing, health, education, legal as well as social matters. It is often said that no two days at work are the same.
The interview will be in two parts with the first part being an informal opportunity to meet with the team and ask questions about the role and the wider work that we do.
