Eaton South Molton are currently seeking a Machining Apprentice to join our Machine Shop. The South Molton Machine Shop is an area of significant growth, with an introduction of advanced technology and on its journey to becoming a centre of excellence. What you'll do: This role is a Machine Shop based Engineering Apprenticeship where the successful candidate will learn all aspects Fitting, Manual and CNC Machining. In addition, they will learn how to measure the output of each process and how to calculate whether the process is under control. Apprentices will learn the application of the Eaton Aerospace parts portfolio which cover Airbus Commercial Jets, Boeing Commercial Jets, Combat Aircraft and a range of Helicopters. Parts manufactured include Fuel Pumps and Fuel Components, Actuated Valves and Actuators, Hydraulic and Air Systems, to name but a few. Apprentices will have scope to explore their own interests. Apprentices will follow a robust rotational plan where they will have the support of the dedicated Apprenticeship Team to ensure their learning journey is exciting, engaging, and successful in line with their educational studies. - Manufacture of Aerospace components using a variety of machine tools and hand skills - With the support of Eaton, successfully complete an engineering apprenticeship through a local college or provider - Full training will be provided by Eaton Qualifications: - GCSE (grade C or above desirable) in English, Mathematics, and one or more Sciences (equivalent experience considered) Skills: - Direct experience of and/or demonstrated interest in making things or getting things made from your own personal efforts, i.e. in a workshop, or equivalent position. - Demonstrated interest in and understanding of mechanical engineering, especially in systems for which safety and reliability are essential, e.g. aerospace. - Candidates should be able to demonstrate a degree of mechanical understand/interest, whether through hobbies or previous experience - An ability to work with written instructions, drawings, and through practical instruction. - Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using email and formal written reports - Basic IT skills such as Excel and Word are preferred - A-Levels (or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
