ASD Teaching Assistant
A Specialist School for Communication and Interaction in Lancashire for students aged three to nineteen years with Autism Spectrum Disorder are recruiting for specialist teaching assistants, the school caters for 108 students ranging from age 4 to 19 years.
Pupils at the school take part in a wide ranging personalised curriculum, the school has built an eclectic approach to pupils learning, taking into account current theories and methods of teaching.
All of the pupils at this school display significant difficulties within the ‘Triad of Impairment’ that is at the heart of the autism. A child’s difficulties in language and communication, social relationships, and rigid patterns of behaviour/thought/interests form major barriers to learning, your role is to ensure the pupils in your care are able to come to terms with, and overcome these difficulties.

Main Duties
* Ensure that all children feel safe, that they are secure and confident in the support you are giving them.
* Provide a clean, safe and well cared for school environment, of which pupils and parents can be proud.
* Promote pupils cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural and physical development and spiritual well-being through the schools curriculum.
* There may be situations that arise where you will have to handle and deesceltae challenging behaviour, or provide basic personal care.
* Support the teacher in monitoring, assessing, recording and reporting pupils progress according to the schools policies.

* Under the general supervision and direction of the teacher you will be expected to plan and implement learning activities for individuals and groups.

* A compettitive hourly rate of pay of £12.90+ per hour depending on experience and additional duties.
