The Public Inquiries Team (PIT) is at the forefront of coordinating the Department for Work and Pensions response to Public Inquiries, with a particular focus on the ongoing Covid-19 Inquiry.
In fulfilling the Department’s statutory duty to engage with Public Inquiries, the team ensures DWP is contributing to the wider effort to fully examine lessons learned, considering the impacts and stories of those affected and helping to build more resilient services for citizens.
Due to the recent expansion of the team and internal restructuring, DWP is looking to fill three SEO roles supporting the Department’s work with independent Public Inquiries.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a high profile cross-government programme. As part of the Risk and Resilience Directorate within Finance Group, the postholder will be supporting DWP and its senior leadership through a range of activities linked to Inquiry requirements, with a particular focus on the UK Covid-19 Inquiry. This will include working extensively with lawyers and other stakeholders in support of DWP’s witnesses through the ongoing UK Covid-19 Inquiry.
We anticipate creating a strong reserve list, as there may be the potential for further roles to be offered to candidates who achieve the pass mark, should vacancies become available.
These are new roles within PIT and the postholders will play a vital role to support the overall work of the team. Helping to develop the team strategy with an emphasis on planning and risk management, briefing and communications, internal and external stakeholder engagement, and leadership.
The role will include opportunities to deliver a wide range of tasks including:
* Data analysis.
* Drafting submissions for DWP’s Executive Team and Ministers.
* Contributing to written responses to Inquiry requests.
* The design of support materials such as team guidance and communications products.
* Governance functions including risk management and decision logs.
* Project Management.
