Applications may be considered whilst this vacancy is advertised. The Role: We are looking for a diligent and professional Data Protection Executive to join our dynamic Legal & Governance department. This role is principally based at Allianz Stadium but also offers remote working opportunities. Primarily designed to support the data and compliance functions of the RFU, reporting directly to the RFU’s Data Protection Manager, this role will involve working across the business including with senior stakeholders, while requiring consistent attention to detail, knowledge and interpersonal skills. What will you be doing? Some key responsibilities include: Assist in implementing and overseeing data protection compliance across the organisation, including drafting and reviewing relevant policies and procedures. Assist the Legal & Governance team with handling Data Subject Access Requests and other data subject rights. Assist with monitoring, responding to and processing potential personal data breaches and information security incidents, escalating within the Legal team for further investigation. Support the organisation in its compliance with direct marketing laws and regulations, proactively assisting with relevant RFU communications and campaigns. Work closely with a variety of RFU departments to ensure necessary compliance procedures and regulatory requirements are in place to deliver significant business projects. Assist with monitoring core activities across the organisation to ensure that they comply with data protection laws and regulations. Assist with the collation of records and statistics and internal reporting on the RFU’s data protection compliance and activities. Support the Legal team with continued awareness of and any updates to the UK GDPR and related data protection legislation, regulations and guidance. Assist with periodic audits on company procedures and processes. Effectively build relationships and collaborate with team members across multiple lines of business and functional departments. Actively collaborate with colleagues to contribute to the development and delivery of the current strategic, business and operational plans. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE The skills and attributes outlined in this description are not exhaustive and we welcome candidates who can bring different relevant experiences to the role. Essential: Strong experience and familiarity with data protection laws, guidance, regulatory requirements and industry practice. Confidence in independently managing Data Subject Access Requests and other data subject rights. Confidence in reviewing and assessing data protection roles and responsibilities, including advising stakeholders on the same. Ability to research and explain data protection laws, guidance, regulatory requirements and industry practice in a digestible manner to relevant internal stakeholders. Attention to detail and thoroughness in approach. Effective communication and interpersonal abilities. Proactive self-starter with the perseverance and ability to manage competing priorities. A desire for continual personal and organisational improvement. An analytical mindset with excellent organisational skills.
