This organisation, who are a leading global technology company, is looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer, ideally with a minimum of 2 years experience in the field, providing service and maintenance of on-board Hardware and Software on industrial heavy vehicles.
Overall, as an organisation, they provide innovative solutions to the environmental services industry. Established in 2003, they are now a global operation and employ over 500 people across 11 countries and deliver enterprise cloud-based software solutions and support over 2500 customers.
Job Overview
The role is to look after the Bristol and South West region, though may involve an overnight stay on average once per week at customer locations when required. The successful candidate must also be willing to travel at short notice if the need arises.
As you are the only engineer within your region, you are very much your own manager, and your region is your responsibility.
You need to have at least 2 years experience as a Field Engineer, have electrical experience, and a good mechanical aptitude to fix things first time where possible, thus providing a first-class service to the clients.
Key Responsibilities
1. Install, commission, and test hardware and software products including all wiring and mechanical work on vehicles.
2. Troubleshoot, repair, and fully test equipment failures in the field.
3. Deliver a timely response to the customer.
4. Schedule and perform preventative maintenance procedures.
5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all work completed.
6. Monitor the performance of equipment in the field, through data reports, to ensure that it meets both Customers and company minimum requirements.
7. Liaise with customers pro-actively to ensure early detection of any problems.
8. As part of the Installation/Field Service team, actively engage with other team members for effective knowledge transfer to ensure consistent quality.
9. Record and report all service/repair visits correctly using a service ERP system.
10. Report any complaints encountered to the respective service coordinator and/or the field service manager.
11. Be accountable for Service parts inventory within the specified territory where you will manage and follow allocated stock inventory in order to maintain a high first-time fix rate.
Education & Work Experience
1. Ideally HNC/HND in a relevant discipline, must be computer literate.
2. Mechanically minded …previous experience working on trucks/large vehicles.
3. Familiar with operating systems/computer literate.
4. Minimum of 2 years experience in a Field Service or Engineering role.
5. Good diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
6. Effective organizational skills.
7. Have the ability to work on own initiative and to multi-task.
8. Have a full clean Driving Licence (HGV licence an advantage).
9. Must be flexible and able to travel.
10. Mechanical, practical hands-on experience would be essential.
11. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - written, verbal, listening.
12. Ability to solve practical, hands-on, technical problems resourcefully.
13. Self-starter with the ability to work independently, accompanied with strong execution and organizational skills.
This is a fabulous opportunity. Full training will be given, which may be in Ireland. A company van, fuel card, and all tools etc will be provided.
