This is an exciting opportunity to act as the engineering manager on all substation related projects in Scotland Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, Substations, You will hold responsibility for the day to day management of internal and external engineering resources to ensure deliverables are completed on time, to budget and in agreement with the project requirements. This is an integral role to support the growth in the business due to key framework wins.,
* Engineering Activities: Contribute to all engineering activities during pre-contract and delivery stages.
* Resource Allocation: Identify and allocate resources for temporary works and other engineering aspects with operations directors.
* Customer Liaison: Serve as the main point of contact for customers, managing relationships and ensuring satisfaction.
* Staff Competency: Ensure staff records, training, and competency are maintained and up to date.
* Compliance: Implement health, safety, environment, and quality requirements tailored to each customer and contract.
* Relationship Management: Manage relationships with consulting engineers and in-house teams, overseeing design agreements and management activities.
* Pre-Contract Support: Assist the pre-contract director in securing design resources for future bids.
* Innovation and Improvement: Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing within the Infrastructure business unit.
* CDM Regulations: Ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
* Tender Support: Support pre-contract activities, including tender reviews, interviews, briefings, and presentations to customers and consultants.
* Quality Submissions: Aid bid managers in producing high-quality submissions.
* Contract Mobilization: Support operations directors in mobilizing new contracts, including setting up health and safety, quality, and environmental plans.
* Audits and Reports: Conduct audits and produce reports to ensure quality and environmental compliance.
* Administration Management: Oversee the engineering administration manager to maintain and update compliance records, including training.
* Best Practices: Collaborate with other business units to share best practices and lessons learned.
* Legislation Support: Assist operations directors with understanding and complying with relevant legislation.
* Industry Representation: Represent the company in industry forums as agreed with the managing director.
5+ years HV substation experience (400kv)
* Substation design experience
* Electrical qualifications such as BEng or MEng
* Ideally chartered with IET
* GIS experience
