About The Role WWT Martin Mere is looking for 2 proactive and motivated individuals to ensure the smooth running of our canoe safari and boat tour attraction from 31 March to 28 September 2025. You will greet visitors, encourage them to engage in the activity and make sure the canoes, boat tour and accessories are safe to use. Other duties will include providing correctly fitted buoyancy aids to all visitors, making sure they have received the necessary health and safety instructions for undertaking the activity and taking both cash and credit card payments. Part of this role will ensure the safe running of the supporting activities around the canoe safari which includes a new play area opening this year, den building, supplying drinks from the kiosk and the cleanliness of the compost toilets. This role will allow the candidate to interact with our visitors and supporters in a positive way, shaping unforgettable experiences and helping them understand and connect to wetlands. We have 2 fixed term contracts which will take place between 31st March 2025 and 28th September 2025. Position 1 – 26 hours per week, 4 days out of 7 including regular weekend work. The salary for this role is £16,225 per annum, pro rata. Position 2 – 19.5 hours per week, 3 days out of 7 including regular weekend work. The salary for this role is £12,169 per annum, pro rata. About You The successful candidate must have experience of working in a visitor attraction or a customer focused environment and have the ability to engage with people at all levels. Having experience in an outdoor sport such as water sports, climbing or hiking would be an advantage for this position. The candidate will be required to deliver boat tours and is required to have excellent communication skills and the ability to use their initiative to adapt the style of talks based on who is on the boat tour. The candidate must be confident in leading a team of volunteers and casual staff by providing instructions and guidance as required.
