Position Summary Applications are invited for an academic position in Embodied Natural Language Processing (NLP) in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, as part of a continuing expansion at the intersection of Natural Language Processing and Robotics. The field of Natural Language Processing is highly interdisciplinary, with recent advances enabling contributions to new thematic areas. We are seeking a candidate who can conduct research at the intersection of NLP and Robotics/Autonomous agents. The successful candidate will have (or be near to completing) a PhD, an established research agenda, and the enthusiasm and ability to undertake original research and lead a research group. They will show excellent teaching capability in specialist courses related to NLP, and engagement with academic supervision. The University of Edinburgh is a top institution for research in Natural Language Processing, with strong links to various schools and institutes, an excellent track record in competitive funding, and multiple UKRI Centres for Doctoral Training in NLP and Robotics. Job Details This post is full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended, with potential for part-time or flexible working patterns. The salary for this post is: Lecturer £49,250 - £60,321 per annum Reader £62,098 - £76,398 per annum Your Skills and Attributes for Success PhD or equivalent experience in Natural Language Processing or a related field. Experience with embodied or autonomous systems is desirable. Proven experience of original research with a track record of publications in high-quality journals and conferences. Experience in attracting research funding and delivering research projects. Commitment to effective teaching in Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning.
