About the Role:
As Head of Service, you will lead and inspire the team, ensuring operational excellence and driving transformation of user experiences across both digital and face-to-face channels. Collaborating closely with our app development teams, you'll work to integrate digital tools into our services to create a seamless user journey. You'll also work with our engineering team to develop prototypes, test products, and ensure the final product meets all requirements. From a technical perspective, you'll be actively involved in every stage of the product development process.
Main Duties of the Job
Your Mission:
* Oversee daily operations for the central team to ensure outstanding service delivery and accessibility via app, virtual, and in-person options.
* Collaborate with services nationwide to guarantee a consistent, high-quality offer that meets client and service needs.
* Act as a product owner, partnering with app developers to enhance user experience, project management, and operational efficiency.
* Develop and implement a self-help feature within the app, providing Tier 1 support and empowering users.
* Embed the blended offer in each service area to ensure clients have access to dynamic Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.
* Deliver an attractive and dynamic blended physical activity offer incorporating virtual and on-demand sessions.
* Support content development to make our services an essential resource for clients seeking health improvements.

What You'll Bring:
* Strong leadership in public health and weight management services (Tiers 1, 2, and 3).
* Evidence of success in product management.
* Solid understanding of working with a software team including effective testing.
* Proven operational experience with a knack for working alongside tech teams to optimise the user experience.
* Outstanding communication, organisational skills, and an ability to coordinate data-driven service improvements.
* Passion for driving behaviour change, promoting health equity, and reducing health inequalities.
Agile project management experience is a plus.
In This Role, You Will:
* Lead the Central and Digital services, managing teams and stakeholders to achieve our vision.
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement by collaborating with specialists across ABL's multidisciplinary team.
* Work with operations teams to gather requirements, create user stories and set priorities.
* Facilitate content development utilising expertise across the company.
* Engage Internal stakeholders and develop partnerships for effective referral pathways.
* Collaborate with the Business Intelligence team to ensure the entire patient journey, internal referrals, and outcomes are fully trackable. Leverage data analysis to steer service strategy and optimise performance, guaranteeing safe and effective service delivery.
* Develop a comprehensive menu of support options designed to meet the unique needs of priority groups, including individuals with long-term conditions, routine and manual workers, women, older adults, and ethnic minorities.
* Represent ABL Health at networking events and build relationships that expand our impact.
* Produce excellent service reports encompassing contract management, performance metrics, social value impact, case studies, and comprehensive feedback from service users and internal partners.
* Experienced leader with a track record of delivering integrated health services and achieving KPIs in weight management and behaviour change services.
* Skilled in project management with the ability to foresee and address challenges.

Skills & Knowledge
* You are familiar with the stages of the software development process.
* Deep understanding of health improvement, behaviour change, obesity and public health policies at local, regional, and national levels.
* Expertise in stakeholder engagement and ability to drive partner and team motivation.
* Excellent analytical and data presentation skills for guiding service strategy.
* Proficiency in developing high-quality service reports (performance, social values, user feedback).
* Proven ability to develop high-performing teams and lead service innovation.
* Experience in clinical and operational governance.
* Strong problem-solving and solution-focused mindset, thriving in fast-paced environments.
* Knowledge of quality improvement frameworks and service innovation techniques.
* Familiarity with safeguarding practices in community health settings.
* Proficient IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office and data management software.
Experience
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in a health-related field: e.g., Public Health, Nutrition, Dietetics, Nursing, Health Improvement, Community Health.
* Proven experience in managing and optimising weight management services, including Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3.
* Experience of working as a product manager, product owner or similar role bridging between business and technical teams.
* Track record in leading large teams and engaging stakeholders to achieve service excellence.
* Demonstrable experience in working with external boards, commissioners, and steering groups to improve health outcomes.
* Strong background in contract management, performance tracking, and driving data-informed service improvements.
* Proven experience in using service data and population health data to shape service strategy and improve outcomes.
* Ability to effectively gather requirements and translate business needs into product features.
* Masters Qualification or equivalent in Public Health, Health Management, or related field.
* Certification in Quality Improvement (e.g., Lean Six Sigma).
* Familiarity with technical concepts and software development processes to effectively communicate with development teams.
* Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or similar product management certification.
* Experience with conducting user research to guide product development.
Qualifications
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in health-related field.
* Masters Qualification or equivalent.
Job Specific Requirements
* Flexibility to adapt to service needs, including evening and weekend work as necessary.
* Willingness to travel across all service locations as required.
