We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Passive Fire Quantity Surveyor in Plymouth. Time 4 Recruitment is delighted to be working with one of the UK’s largest maintenance and service contractors, a well-established and highly reputable client who offers their services to hundreds of thousands of properties across the UK.
As a Permanent Quantity Surveyor, you will be primarily based at their office in Orpington, London. You will be responsible for managing budgets and all costs involved in Passive Fire construction projects. Your duties include sourcing services and resources, negotiating costs with suppliers, maintaining client relationships, analyzing current strategies, and developing improved action plans.
You must have strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and customer engagement skills. You will utilize your judgment and decision-making abilities, and contribute to employee development. A full UK driving license is required.
A successful Quantity Surveyor for this role will possess good knowledge of Passive Fire and a wide range of local contacts.
Responsibilities:
1. The financial performance of the project through to collection of cash.
2. Measurement, pricing, and evaluation of tenders.
3. Take responsibility for projects from inception to completion.
4. Identify areas to improve margin.
5. Cost management.
6. Target creation.
7. CVR reporting and forecasting.
8. Management and administration of sub-contractor accounts.
9. Producing and submitting applications for payment.
10. Understanding Health & Safety requirements.
11. Developing and maintaining subcontract and supplier contracts.
Knowledge/Experience:
1. Professional Qualification: Quantity Surveying (HNC/HND/Degree/Diploma) or equivalent.
2. Experience with passive fire protection works is advantageous.
3. Previous experience of working with bills of quantities, schedules of rates, design and build contracts, etc.
4. Extensive experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors.
5. Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge of monthly reporting.
6. Excellent team player with the ability to work independently on your own initiative.
7. Experienced with direct and subcontract labour.
8. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
9. Ability to encourage and support other members of the commercial team.
10. Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.

1. Competitive salary: £45 - £55k depending on experience.
