Job Description:
Commercial Litigation Associate
Calling all commercial litigators! A fantastic opportunity if you're looking for a role that sets you apart from your peers. If you've at least a few years of experience in this area, most likely at associate or senior associate level, and are looking to make your mark, then read on to find out how VWV can elevate your every day.
The Role
With our healthcare litigation team enjoying ongoing success, we're looking for a bright and enthusiastic lawyer to come on board. You'll enjoy a range of high quality work including partnership disputes, procurement challenges, judicial review, as well as contractual disputes and general commercial litigation.
You'll regularly work for GPs, dentists, ophthalmologists, and other primary healthcare clinicians as well as care home clients. Additionally, you'll support the firm within the education and pharmaceutical sectors. Gaining expertise in these areas can really set you apart from your peers. With our 4 office locations in Bristol, Birmingham, London, and Watford, we're open-minded about where you'll be based, although we'd like you to be available to come into one of our offices at least a couple of days a week.
About us
We're a Top 100, full-service UK law firm with just over 500 employees. With 4 offices in Bristol, Birmingham, London, and Watford, you'll be struck by our close-knit and friendly culture. We believe in integrity and authenticity - in each one of us being ourselves both in our interactions with each other as well as with our clients. We strive to recruit individuals who are proactive and passionate about what they do.
Our Team and Reputation
Here at VWV, we're well renowned for our healthcare offering. Working closely with our Partner based in London, you'll enjoy being part of a small dedicated sub-team of healthcare litigation lawyers, with support from a much larger cross-office litigation team. We're friendly, sociable, and genuinely enjoy each other's company. We work collaboratively and enjoy supporting each other to make a real impact for our clients.
We're widely acclaimed for our healthcare work, and Chambers (and Partners 2024) recognizes Rachel as a Notable Practitioner.
About you
You're most likely working at or around associate or senior associate level and have strong experience in commercial litigation. While we'd ideally like you to have a solid platform in commercial litigation work with perhaps some exposure to healthcare, we recognize that everyone's career journey is different. If you're concerned that your experience may not be quite right for our role, we'd still be interested to hear from you. Your enthusiasm is as important as experience and ability.
Perhaps you're currently working with a Top 100 UK law firm or your career has taken an in-house route. If you have good experience of providing dispute resolution support and advice and a passion for your subject, then we'd be delighted to hear from you.
Here at VWV, we recognize that each one of us is an individual. We're passionate about creating an inclusive workplace that promotes and values diversity. If you require any special adjustments to be considered for this role, please do call us, as we will be happy to accommodate.
Where will I be working?
At VWV, we have a truly unique and engaging culture that we hold dear. We work hard but we also love to have fun. We operate a hybrid model of working, and for this role, we would like you to commit to working from one of our offices for at least 2 days each week. In this way, you'll benefit from our warm and friendly culture as well as facilitate cross-referral opportunities from your colleagues in other teams. We have healthcare sector lawyers working in every office, but the healthcare litigation team is predominantly based in London. We are happy to discuss any specific requirements of hybrid working with candidates on an individual basis.
