Job summary The Nelson Medical Practice is a dynamic, forward thinking and friendly practice and we have an exciting opportunity for a Practice Nurse to join our team working 30 hours per week over 3 days. We operate from a large modern purpose built building in Wimbledon and have an experienced and stable clinical workforce with a keen focus on delivering high quality patient care. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, and will support and care for a diverse patient group. As a large Practice on a single site we have a strong emphasis on our team and we have a team of experienced Nurses, a Nurse Mentor and a Nursing Team Manager, so you are well supported in your role. The Practice offers dedicated in house clinics for Diabetes, minor surgery,family planning, postnatal and baby checks and immunisations. As well as offering a wide range of care from smears to wound care and chronic disease management and travel vaccinations. Whether you are a newly qualified GPN or a more experienced GPN looking to develop a specialist clinical interest you will be welcome in our friendly diverse team. Main duties of the job Main duties and responsibilities: Provision of health advice to patients both face to face and via telephone Undertake immunisations in accordance with local and national guidelines ( PGD's) Carry out screening, e.g Lipids, blood pressures, cervical smears etc Clinics in line with competencies - diabetic, hypertension, asthma, warfarin,contraception etc Provide travel health advice and administer appropriate vaccines General Nursing duties e.g dressing and wound care Recording of consultations int the clinical system EMIS and the use of DOCMAN to review clinical documents Checking fridge temperatures and downloading the information from the fridges using the data logger dealing with samples on a rota basis Attendance and participation at monthly Nursing Team Meetings Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and in line with Practice Policies About us We are a friendly and forward thinking practice with a strong ethos around delivering high quality patient care and team work across both clinical and non clinical staff.
