Location: Hybrid/Weybridge - may be occasional travel required to Council and customer sites

Pay Rate to Intermediary: £17.70 per hour
Spinwell is recruiting for a Payroll and/or Pension Officer for an excellent opportunity within the public sector.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PAYROLL AND/OR PENSION OFFICER
1. To ensure payroll and/or pension processing, administration and employee enquiries are dealt with in a timely and accurate manner.
2. To hold responsibility for providing exceptional customer service to employees and stakeholders while maintaining a high level of accountability and accuracy in all payroll-related activities.
3. This role requires a strong technical acumen in payroll processing and relevant qualifications / experience to ensure compliance with payroll regulations.
4. To serve as the primary point of contact for all payroll inquiries and ensure a positive, courteous, and supportive experience for employees.
5. To oversee the work of junior payroll staff and providing support and guidance where required.
6. To supervise the accuracy and quality of payroll /pension processing.
7. To support the training and onboarding efforts of new team members.
8. Handling advanced / complex payroll / pensions calculations and issues.
9. Identifying and supporting process improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and enhance overall payroll operations.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OF THE PAYROLL AND/OR PENSION OFFICER
1. Educated to A level or equivalent, or able to evidence ability at an equivalent level.
2. Relevant HR, Management, business administration or financial qualification to NVQ Level 3/4, or able to evidence knowledge and understanding of relevant disciplines. Willingness to study for a relevant professional qualification if appropriate.
3. For some roles a relevant degree may be required.
4. Good IT skills.
5. Ability to work with others to achieve objectives and improve customer service.
6. Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to build sound relationships with customers to improve customer service.
7. High level administrative/organisational and analytical skills.
8. Ability to prioritise and plan own workload in the context of conflicting priorities and work on own initiative.
9. A methodical approach to information gathering, recording and reporting.
10. Previous relevant work experience.
11. Experience of maintaining and improving business/ database systems/secretarial processes and systems (as appropriate).
