A&P Tyne Project Planner, Fabrication 6 month fixed term contract
This is an opportunity to make a significant impact on our fabrication work, part of a project of national significance, while working with and learning from a team of experts.
We're launching a new 12 month project that will be both challenging and demanding so are looking for 2 additional Project Planners to join us for 6 months to provide what we need to make things happen.
Critical roles as part of our wider team managing this complex, multifaceted project where schedule recovery is critical. Could this be you?
Who are A&P Tyne?
With the largest fabrication facilities on the East coast of England, we can build units for vessels, and also join them together.
Within our 24,000 square metre Fabrication Hall, where your projects will be based, we have a high bay construction hall for our new builds, a panel line, profile cutting and sub-assembly areas.
Using in-house capabilities to maintain tight project control we work closely together with our customers to deliver what they need, as they need it, when they need it.
So what will you do?
* Generate, maintain and update plans for complex projects, especially where timelines are dictated by factors like customer demand and weather constraints.
* Schedule and adapt when issues are identified for recovery while mitigating risk with built-in contingencies for delays using scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
* Coordinate live progress updates between customers, engineers, and other stakeholders, through exceptional communication to manage expectations and changes.
* Accurately estimate timeframes, resource needs, and project constraints, and re-estimate when faced with unexpected disruptions.
* Adapt the plan quickly as new challenges arise, whether they come from client demands or weather-related disruptions.
* Allocate resources accordingly with a realistic understanding of the availability of labour and materials in a market with a skills shortage.
* Produce reports on milestone slippage, critical path analysis, resource demand & availability, float erosion, identification of schedule risks, issues, and opportunities.
* Present schedule variance analysis to identify and report deviations, triggering exception reports as appropriate.
And what are we looking for?
* Project planners who can deal with complexity, adjust for unexpected variables, and effectively manage resources in a tight labour market.
* Working knowledge of heavy fabrication and an understanding of various fabrication methods like welding, machining, assembly, etc.
* Familiarity with different materials and how they affect the fabrication process.
* An understanding of and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Project Management planning.
* The ability to read and interpret specifications and estimator's breakdowns.
* Experience creating labour forecasts and carrying out critical path analysis.
* Ability to deliver accurate technical work using initiative to prioritise project deadlines.
