As a Lead (Principal) Software Engineer, you will:
1. Be responsible for leading and overseeing the development of complex applications, ensuring high-quality code, and driving technical excellence across engineering. This includes architecting, designing, and developing robust and scalable web applications.
2. Drive and lead the technical direction of full stack and cloud development with best practices on coding standards, code reviews, and ensure adherence to quality assurance processes across the Aegon technology estate.
3. Provide the strategic way forward from an engineering perspective on all fronts from solution to implementation, best practices on coding standards, code reviews, and ensure adherence to quality assurance processes across the Aegon technology estate.
4. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other business stakeholders to deliver innovative software solutions.
5. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior, mid and senior developers to foster a culture of continuous improvement and career progression.
6. Provide guidance and expertise on automation to enable faster and continuous delivery.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
1. Extensive experience as a Lead Full Stack Developer, with a strong focus on web application development.
2. Deep technical understanding of frontend web technologies, preferably with experience working with Angular.
3. Deep expertise in backend technologies, preferably with experience working with Python or Java.
4. Deep expertise in AWS services and architecture, including EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and DynamoDB, amongst others.
5. Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, CDK or CloudFormation.
6. Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices for scalable and maintainable code.
7. Experience in conducting workshops or meetings to gather business requirements and facilitate productive discussions between business and technical teams.
