JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Senior Officer - Policy, Standards and Guidance GRADE & SALARY: £50,000-£55,000 dependent on experience REPORTS TO: Head of Regulation Strategy and Education BASE: Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland, 73 University Street, Belfast. HOURS OF WORK: Full time, flexible and hybrid working. Some out of hours working and occasional travel will be required. Applicants should have access to a form of transport. JOB PURPOSE:This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team at the Pharmaceutical Society NI. We are seeking to appoint an experienced leader with expertise in the field of policy, professional guidance, and standards. The post holder will be an experienced individual and provide visible leadership and managerial oversight of the two officers within the Policy Guidance and Standards team. They will be accountable to the Head of Strategy and Education for the delivery of a programme of work, on time and to a high standard, ensuring the Society maintains up-to-date guidance and standards supporting pharmacists to adhere to expected standards of practice. The post holder will oversee the delivery of public consultations and engagement programmes supporting a range of development work within the Society. They will be an expert collaborator representing the Society widely in our work with other agencies. The post holder will be an experienced leader and possess high levels of interpersonal and political acumen, to be positioned to provide direct mentorship and support the development of Policy and Standards officers in the Society. MAJOR DUTIES: To lead the Societys work on developing and maintaining up to date guidance and standards. To consult, co-ordinate and respond to consultations impacting upon both pharmacy regulation, and the development of the pharmacy profession. To lead and co-ordinate the presentation of the annual report and other important strategic documents. To lead collaborative work, through convening expert advisory groups and panels, to develop standards and guidance to support pharmacy regulation. To lead the preparation of publication ready documentation to a high standard and act to ensure robust quality assurance across the Societys range of publications and engagement materials. To support the organisation in demonstrating and evidencing compliance against the 18 Standards of Good Regulation and compiling the organisations submission to the annual Professional Standards Authority Performance Review To successfully lead a team and support the training and development of staff with their sphere of responsibility. To ensure the Society meets all its legal obligations, particularly regarding its duties to support equality, diversity, and inclusion within its policy, guidance, and standards functions. QUALIFICATIONS: A degree and evidence of post graduate experience continuing development. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 5 years experience in areas of policy development or the development of guidelines and standards. Previous experience working in either a regulatory, healthcare, or related sector. Evidence of successfully leading and developing a small team of professionals. Evidence of working with a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes Evidence of producing high quality publications on time. Ability to prioritise and balance competing priorities. Excellent communication, verbally and in writing, and experience using a range of media formats. Commitment to reflective practice and lifelong learning. DESIRABLE Masters level qualification.
