Development Engineer
Location: Northamptonshire

EMBS Engineering is currently recruiting for a Development Engineer to join a precision engineering company located in Northamptonshire. This is a unique and varied role where you will have the opportunity to define and measure the testing requirements of critical parts for high profile customers within the Automotive, Motorsport & F1 markets.

Role & Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with design teams to understand part capabilities and requirements
2. Define what tests are needed on engine/powertrain parts and develop a testing plan
3. Development, calibration and optimisation of high-end powertrain components
4. Full engine dynamometer and subsystem rig testing
5. Engine calibration and driveability testing (from testbed to road/track)
6. Test the parts on various aspects including reliability, emissions, tensile, drivability, etc.
7. Data analysis, reporting, and combustion pressure measurement
8. Collaboration with top Motorsport and Automotive brands
9. Work closely with Test Technicians providing support for all testing activities
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
1. Minimum 3 years experience in engine development
2. Strong knowledge and demonstrated working experience within a similar role
3. Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering
4. Strong knowledge of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) / Hybrid or Electric Powertrain, E-motors, Electric Motors, Transmission gearboxes, Hybrid Engine Systems, etc.
5. Confidence understanding the testing requirements and being able to create a testing plan
6. Demonstrable experience of reviewing calibration, emissions, and performance data
7. Experience of using Dynometers / Testing rigs
8. Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
9. Ability to work independently and within a team under pressure
10. Excellent communication and structured approach to work
11. Must have the right to work in the UK
