Process Engineer
Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer
Based in: Wilton

Position overview:
To provide technical support across the business in process engineering; from FFED studies to commissioning of equipment whilst delivering competence in process engineering to relevant standards.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
• Working closely with plant engineers and operational teams to ensure the process plant is set up to provide the required output levels and efficient running of the production facility.
• Designing plant and equipment configuration so that they can be readily adapted to suit the product range and the process technologies involved, taking environmental and economic aspects into account.
• Setting up scale-up and scale-down processes including appropriate changes to equipment design and configuration.
• Assessing options for plant expansion or reconfiguration by developing and testing process simulation models.
• Designing, installing and commissioning new production improvements, including monitoring developments and troubleshooting. Provide commissioning support and leadership for newly installed items of equipment and ensure satisfactory performance ahead of takeover by the Operations Team.
• Optimising production by analysing processes and compiling de-bottleneck studies.
• Represent the company as a technical expert in discussions with external organisations including regulatory bodies, suppliers, potential new customers, existing customers etc.
• Researching new products whilst evaluating the impact of technological advances, future trends and changes in legislation and applying any new technologies from trial through to commercialisation and improvisation of product lines.
• Ensuring that potential safety issues related to the project operator, the environment, the process and the product are considered at all stages.
• Define standards for the measurement and monitoring of plant performance and utility distribution.
• Originate and deliver immediate and mid-term projects and lead major studies into the improvement of Utilities operations and compliance through improved use of technology and control.
• Review and monitor key performance indicators and standards within the Utilities business and advise operations management on achievement and improvement of these indicators.
• Monitor product quality and liaise with customers on specification issues, leading investigations where necessary.
• Contribute to the preparation of the Utilities budget with particular emphasis on the variable costs elements and capital requirements for mid-term performance improvement investments.
• Provide technical support and expertise to the business including delivery of key communications and training packages to the operations and maintenance teams.
Qualification, Skills and Experience
Essential
• BEng Chemical/Process Engineering (minimum)
• HAZOP
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Good written and spoken communications skills to present to key stakeholders, customers and suppliers, external agencies and the shop floor
• Good Influencing skills
• Planning and organisational ability.
• Good IT skills with Microsoft software and modelling packages.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Understanding of wider commercial pressures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong self-motivation, flexible and able to work under pressure.
• An ability to liaise directly with clients and form effective working relationships.
• Effective presentation skills.
Desirable
• MEng Chemical/Process Engineering.
• Working experience of process plant operations and maintenance
• Accredited with professional body i.e. IChemE
