Part of Associated British Foods, Allied Bakeries is around 4000 strong and one of the three largest bakery businesses in the UK. We own a top ten UK grocery brand in Kingsmill as well as a branded portfolio of other well-known household names including Allinson, Burgen and Sunblest, in addition to supplying customer brand products.
The Liverpool site is an integral part of our success within the snack industry and produces the pancake, pikelets and crumpet lines for these highly successful brands. We currently have a variety of Bakery Operative opportunities available to work as part of the Manufacturing Team at Allied Bakeries Liverpool.
The role of a Bakery Operative, is to safely and efficiently operate as instructed, bakery plant and equipment. Working as part of a team whose aim is to achieve targeted performance, customer satisfaction and quality standards. It is expected that the jobholder will positively contribute to the team environment and seek out development and learning opportunities to further their knowledge and skills
These roles are Fixed Term Contractors for 6-months.
The successful applicant will work a shift pattern of 2-days, 2-nights (4-on, 4-off)
Key Accountabilities
- Engages in the Safety First culture and compliance with AB internal policies and procedures
- Maintain product quality in line with the Company procedures inclusive of all compliance paperwork and to contribute to the site standards inclusive of respective internal and external audits required by the Company.
- To operate within all work instructions, Risk Assessments (RA), Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) and Standard Operational Procedures (SOP).
- To work individually and as part of a team to meet the Manufacturing deadlines, common goals and KPI targets.
- To maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ‘clean as you go’ ensuring work area is tidy and safe and meets the agreed standards in hygiene and housekeeping.
- To undertake regular cleaning of equipment in compliance with internal standards.
- To comply with Health and Safety legislation and any other Company or legal requirements to protect all employees, visitors, customers and members of the public.
- To comply with the application of all CCP (Critical Control Points) and any other Company or legal requirements to protect all company products and due diligence requirements.
Additional Accountabilities
There is an expectation that any employee within AB demonstrates a flexible and can do approach to their work and may on occasion be required to take part in other areas of the business, to provide resource and expertise as required but also to give the individual opportunity to develop their own skill base and broader knowledge.
The Right Person
Essential
- Previous experience within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate a good level of Health and Food Safety awareness
- Numerical, reading and information recording skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and from own initiative
- Excellent communication skills
Advantageous
- An in-depth understanding and application of food hygiene/GMP/(ABSS standards)
- Understanding of baking process
- Understanding of Continuous Improvement techniques
- Computer Literate (understand and interact with HMI screens)
