Job Summary: The Health Care Assistant will work as part of the clinical team carrying out a range of duties ensuring that the highest standard of care is afforded to patients at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Undertake routine tasks related to patient care ensuring clinical protocols are followed, referring to GPs when necessary. Routine tasks will include: dressings, removal of sutures, blood pressure monitoring, phlebotomy and ECGs.
2. Undertake routine preventative work related to patient care including routine flu, covid, pneumococcal and RSV vaccinations.
3. Assist GPs with minor surgery and coil fittings.
4. Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate who are being examined by another clinician.
5. Monitor QOF targets as required and maintain a high standard of achievement.
6. Participate in any relevant health promotion and screening activities to promote the health and wellbeing of patients as well as referring to preventative programmes.
Maintain the GP Clinical Rooms:
1. Stock levels are maintained, and items are rotated as necessary, and maintain and clean any equipment.
2. Maintain accurate records.
3. Monitor the temperature of the treatment room fridge, ensuring the protocol is followed.
4. Attend and participate in any Practice meetings when required.
5. Ensure that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
6. Notify the GP/Nurse of any significant patient issues.
7. Liaise with and assist members of the administration team.
8. Undertake monthly room checks and checks of emergency trolley and GP bags.
Job Summary: Receptionist
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
2. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
3. Using your own judgment and communication skills, ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultation are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
4. Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, and ensure procedures are completed.
5. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
6. Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours, either on the computer or manually.
7. Enter patient information onto the computer as required.
8. Ensure complaints are dealt with as per the complaints procedure in a courteous and efficient manner.
9. Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
10. Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the partners or the practice manager.
11. Scan patient-related documents onto their medical record using read codes as agreed by the clinical team.
