The Role of Data Scientist We require an experienced data scientist to play a key role in the development of physical testing data systems and processes. The successful applicant will work closely with performance and medical staff from both the 1st Team and Academy to develop industry leading testing, analysis and reporting systems. The ideal candidate will have previous experience utilising various data analysis and visualisation platforms in the sport or fitness industry. This person will have very strong communication skills which enable them to form strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. The ability to quickly analyse, present and communicate data will be essential in executing the desired outcomes of this role. Main Accountabilities Assist in the design and evolution of physical testing systems and processes Assist in the day-to-day running of gym, wellness and pitch-based testing Oversee data collection processes Clean, archive and relay testing outcomes with relevant insights Design, create and evolve data visualisation platforms for all facets of the Performance and Medical Departments; strength and conditioning, GPS, wellness, medical, nutrition and sleep Assist developers in the design and maintenance of data platform systems and related applications Establish strong working relationships with technology and innovation providers Contribute to growing the department’s edge by utilising innovation, research and professional development practices Ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels. Any other relevant tasks and duties as directed by your line manager Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics Strong data analysis skillset and experience used in a sporting or performance context. Previous experience using R, Python, Tableau and/or Power Bi is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to connect with a wide demographic. A high level of initiative and the motivation to develop world leading data systems. Flexible and willing to take on ad-hoc tasks as this role will require weekend working hours.
