We are actively working alongside them to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent contract.
To be considered for this role, candidates must be Degree educated in Metallurgy/Materials Science, at minimum HND or demonstrated relevant experience required.
This position is working 37.5 hours a week, Monday - Friday, offering a salary up to £27,000.
Our client does not offer sponsorship or fixed-term contracts, so can only consider candidates with the right to work in the UK.
The successful Laboratory Technician will be responsible for macrostructure assessments of product, thermal processing of test material, operation of the laboratory furnaces, and progressing and certifying test material in line with customer specifications and drawings.
An immediate start is available for the right candidate.
Laboratory Technician main duties:
1. Progress parts/samples through the laboratory and to sub-contractors as required and raise necessary reports/certification.
2. Macrostructure assessment and reporting for production, investigation, and validation purposes.
3. Completion of metallurgical assessment of surface degradation and HIP closure samples.
4. Review of thermal processing documentation.
5. Ensure specimens, documentation, and files are correctly identified and stored in the correct areas, including storage/archive, ensuring laboratory scrap levels are controlled, and ensuring that logs and noticeboards are maintained and updated.
6. Check stock levels and order as required, check and monitor stock performance.
7. Maintain Lab Heat Treatment furnaces and ensure bars/samples are processed within agreed timescales.
8. Maintain and improve Lab 6S standards.
9. Maintain Lab equipment.
10. Provide training to Lab personnel when and where required.
Laboratory Technician desired skills and experience:
1. Preferably Degree educated in Metallurgy/Materials Science, at minimum HND or relevant experience required.
2. Competent in using Microsoft Office packages.
3. Ideally have technical knowledge of lost wax casting process, thermal processing, and Ni & Co base superalloys.
4. Excellent communication skills.
5. Strong time management and ability to work to tight deadlines.
6. Ability to streamline processes and reporting for optimised efficiency.
7. Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
