Location: Tresham College, Corby Campus Hours/Weeks: 3hrs per week - Mondays, 18:00 to 21:00 Contract Type: Sessional - Hourly Paid About the role: We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in Hairdressing to join our Hair and Beauty department at The Bedford College group. As an Associate Lecturer in Hairdressing, you play an important role in the success of our students through: Preparing, delivering, assessing and verifying on a range of Hairdressing and Barbering programmes. Supporting and guiding students to achieve success and realise their potential. Managing students’ learning and providing a high-quality learning experience. Contributing pro-actively to developments in the Department in curriculum development and innovative teaching. Keeping CPD in industry knowledge up to date. Teaching effectively on a range of Hairdressing or Barbering programmes, levels and qualification types recognising and meeting students’ individual needs. Researching, developing and effectively implementing new learning materials in a variety of media to engage students in learning. Assessing students’ work effectively to meet awarding body standards and carrying out verification and moderation. Meeting assessment deadlines as set by the awarding body and the college. Monitoring and recording students’ progress and taking action to ensure students meet required standards and deadlines. Participating in effective internal verification and other quality procedures. Maintaining records on students’ progress and performance, communicating in a timely manner to the Course Lead where there are issues / concerns. Keeping up to date with developments in subject specialism and sharing expertise and resources with colleagues. Being responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and raising any concerns in line with college procedures. Being responsible for promoting equality and diversity in line with college procedures. Being responsible for following health and safety requirements in line with college policy and procedures. About you: Hold a Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing Hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Men’s Hair/Barbering Be willing to work towards teaching qualifications if not already held Working or have worked within the Hairdressing and/or Barbering industry Have evidence of high performance in previous roles/jobs Have knowledge of the current developments in own specialist area.
