About the role:
The Procurement Strategy & Governance Manager will play a pivotal role in leading and developing procurement strategies that align with the Council's objectives. This position involves managing procurement processes, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and promoting best practices across the organisation. You will work closely with various departments to identify procurement needs, develop tender documents, and oversee the evaluation and award processes.
Your responsibilities will include providing expert advice on procurement matters, negotiating contracts, and monitoring supplier performance to ensure value for money and high-quality service delivery. Additionally, you will be tasked with fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support collaborative working and effective procurement outcomes.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in procurement, with a thorough understanding of public sector procurement regulations and practices. Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualifications and Requirements:
* Minimum Level 4 CIPS: Candidates must possess a minimum Level 4 qualification from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or have substantial awareness and experience working within a public or private procurement environment.
* Desirable Qualifications: While not essential, qualifications in change management and project management are highly desirable.
* Continuous Professional Development: Evidence of ongoing professional development is required.
