Application Engineer - RF & Microwave
The Company
A privately owned and long established, well respected organisation based in the south of England, specialising in the supply of high-end technology and leading-edge RF/Microwave products. With an extensive range that covers components and sub-systems used in military/aerospace, automotive, and commercial sectors.
The Role
The Application Engineer is responsible for supporting sales of RF & microwave products and system solutions. This will be achieved by engaging with a highly trained sales team to support them with product demonstrations and technical presentations. This is a very important position within the team and can be the difference in winning and losing orders. The sharing of information internally and externally is key.
The candidate needs to have a strong technical knowledge in RF/Microwave or electrical/electronic related subjects. This role is varied, and an adaptive mindset is required to handle technical support from small components, PCBs, systems, sub-systems, test equipment, and possibly turnkey systems. This is a challenging role that requires communication at all levels both internally and externally to the business. A willingness to travel is required, as the customer base could be spread across the UK and possibly Europe.
Primary Duties:
* Support the sales team in technical demonstrations and presentations.
* Maintain and build technical knowledge for all RF & Microwave products within the company's portfolio.
* Regularly hold internal training exercises for the sales team.
* Engage regularly with principal suppliers:
o Stay up to speed with roadmaps.
o Increase knowledge of new successes that can be shared.
o Find out about new applications their products have been used in.
o Find out about possible issues on products that may need to be rectified.
* Develop high-quality technical responses to present to the customer.
* Follow up with the sales team after a demonstration.
* Report back into the company with market information.
* Look to continuously improve market and technology understanding.
The Person
Probably a graduate engineer who has been working well within a high-end technology company for at least 1-2 years. Will be driven, hardworking, and confident in his/her ability. A good listener with a social and likeable character. An educator who possesses the ability to share and not be tempted simply to tell people how much they know!
