Interim Junior Management Accountant – Financial Services

Pay Rate: Up to £21.67 per hour PAYE depending on experience
Hours per week: 37 Monday - Friday, 8am to 4pm
Role Length: This opening assignment is for 12 months

The Junior Management Accountant will provide support to the operational and corporate finance teams. Involvement in all areas of finance will be a focus for this role. The post holders will gain experience and understanding of complex interrelated service-based financial transactions, different sources of revenue and operational margins, and their respective contributions to our corporate business plan.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contributing to the generation of monthly management reports by undertaking a variety of month end tasks such as collating or inputting accruals, prepayments, and other required adjustments.
2. Collating and preparing schedules of transactional journal postings to ensure full reconciliation between the operational systems and the central corporate ledgers (Agresso).
3. Being a visible and valued member of the business, regularly meeting with a range of colleagues to ensure their understanding of our financial processes are clearly understood.
4. Carrying out monthly reconciliations and other control account reconciliations.
5. Reviewing monthly ledger transactions and working with budget holders to identify and correct miscoding issues.
6. Providing the team with monthly contractor/agency spend data.
7. Providing services to the team in various aspects of processing and reconciling the daily interfaces between the operational (Aareon QL, Bartec, Purgo, Key2) and corporate (Agresso) software systems.
8. Providing services to the team in ensuring the companies’ purchase and sales ledger functions are working effectively including the preparation of some invoicing of income, reviewing the GR/IR reports etc.
Qualifications:
1. Graduate of Accounting, Maths, Business Studies or equivalent training route e.g. AAT.
Skills & Experience:
1. Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role, or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
2. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
3. Experience in a financial setting.
4. Computer literate with advanced spreadsheet skills.
5. Attention to detail.
6. Effective communication skills.
7. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite, Mosaic).
