Underwriter Level 2 We are currently looking for an Underwriter to be based in one of our UK offices on a full-time basis, reporting into the Head of Underwriting Operations. You to ensure the prudent underwriting of quality business in line with the business plan to facilitate maximum return of profit while maintaining the firm’s reputation and integrity, demonstrating care for customers and respect for the regulatory obligations of the firm. To achieve and maintain a profitable, well balanced and growing portfolio with allocated intermediaries and customers to assist in meeting long term trading objectives of the Company. Responsibilities: Underwrite construction and engineering risks, exercising judgement to make effective decisions in all underwriting matters, and remain aware of own underwriting limits as set out on the Underwriting Authority sheet, all in accordance with Underwriting business plan Review new business presentations, renewal presentations, mid-term adjustments and/or other information/literature, exercising own judgment, based on knowledge and experience, acting within own limits of authority Working within your team, occasionally visiting intermediaries/customers, undertaking end-to-end handling of straight forward cases for the allocated portfolio to deliver the agreed joint business development plans in line with the Company’s overall trading strategy Identify, define and close business opportunities, seeking the input of other members of staff where appropriate, to ensure that business proposals are dealt with swiftly and effectively, securing business for the Company Assist in maintaining a balanced and high-quality portfolio, optimising the use of information gathered Undertake other duties as directed within the level of the job function If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with everything outlined, or you don’t meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply anyway.
