Driver / Labourer - Job Overview
£15 per hour basic
S.P. Fields (Contractors) Ltd are a leading civil engineering and building contractor who have been established for nearly two decades.
Due to a combination of promotion and expansion, we are looking to recruit a driver / labourer who ideally will possess experience within the civil engineering or construction industries. The successful applicant will be 25 or over due to fleet vehicle insurance restrictions, have a clean driving licence, possess a CSCS card, and have a great work ethic.

The role is full-time and, after a probationary period, will be permanent. The successful candidate will deliver materials to sites, predominantly within the South Yorkshire region, although you will also travel to sites further afield. A proportion of your time will be spent loading and unloading the vehicle at site, and some labouring at sites; physical fitness and a willingness to work hard are therefore essential.
Your hours of work will be 7.30am – 4.00pm Monday to Friday and other hours to suit the needs of the business.

Duties
* Operate a van to deliver goods to designated locations efficiently and safely.
* Load and unload items, ensuring proper handling of heavy lifting tasks.
* Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
* Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including receipts and delivery notes.
* Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues.
* Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while driving.
* Assist in site and warehouse operations as needed, including inventory management and organisation of stock.
Skills
* Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar role is advantageous.
* Strong ability to perform heavy lifting tasks safely and efficiently.
* Valid light commercial driving licence is preferred, with knowledge of road safety regulations.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and team members effectively.
* Familiarity with construction operations and logistics is beneficial.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, demonstrating reliability and professionalism in all tasks.
