Peer Support Worker - Fixed Term Contract

Hours: Full Time - 37.5 hours per week
Work Pattern: Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM
Salary: £23,470 per annum
Contract: Maternity Cover - Fixed Term contract until 31st January 2025
Location: REST Great Yarmouth - Dene Side, NR30 3AX
*Due to the nature of the role a driver licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role, mileage is paid at 45p per mile for cars after your home to work base mileage is deducted.
Training: Mandatory training for this role takes place in Norwich, training sessions run from 9am – 5pm and run over 4 separate dates.
Join our dedicated team at REST Great Yarmouth as a Peer Support Worker (PSW) and make a difference in the lives of others. Drawing on your personal experience of recovery and resilience, you will provide vital support and insight to individuals accessing our Hub. By modeling recovery and wellness, you will foster hope, helping others to see a positive future and a sense of purpose in their lives.
Core Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Recovery Workers and facilitators to deliver group and one-on-one interventions focused on recovery and independent living.
Share your personal recovery journey in a professional and appropriate manner.
Empower individuals to take control of their own recovery through diverse interventions and opportunities.
Specific Duties:
- Participate in and contribute to the Peer Support Training program.
- Attend ongoing supervision, support, and training sessions.
- Assist service users in engaging with REST and the broader community.
- Help service users identify personal goals and work collaboratively with the Hub team to achieve them.
- Aid service users in navigating obstacles to reach their goals.
- Encourage service users to contribute to the development and engagement of the service within the local community.
- Work with the team to mitigate risks of relapse, self-harm, or emergency service use.
- Actively promote recovery concepts, psychologically informed practice, and the Peer Support ethos within the service.
- Maintain accurate records for governance, sustainability, and accountability of the Peer Support network.
- Collaborate with other voluntary and statutory organizations to address the needs of service users.
- Provide one-on-one peer support both in the Hub and the community, helping service users maximize their recovery journey and create personalized recovery plans.
- Support individuals in overcoming barriers to accessing mental health and community services, while prioritizing their choices and recovery.
