Learning Support Assistant – Newcastle

About the Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring students receive the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting students on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, helping them to engage with the curriculum.
* Assisting teachers in delivering inclusive and engaging lessons.
* Adapting learning materials to meet individual needs.
* Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting students with emotional and social development.
* Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to implement tailored support strategies.
* Assisting with classroom activities and ensuring a safe and productive learning environment.
This role is ideal for candidates looking to gain experience in education, particularly those considering a career in teaching or special educational needs support.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds, including those with previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Care Worker, or in any role involving children or young people. The ideal candidate will have:
* A passion for education and supporting young people.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a school setting (though this is not essential).
* The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
* A proactive and adaptable approach to learning support.
* A valid, e nhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for an enhanced DBS check .
