Senior Quantity Surveyor - Gas Division
They are a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across various sectors including chemical & petrochemical, nuclear, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals & biopharma, power & energy, utilities, renewables, and food & beverage markets. With extensive experience in offshore and onshore facilities, they specialise in asset management services throughout all life cycle phases from consulting, engineering, manufacturing, assembly, operations, maintenance, and decommissioning.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager for the Gas Framework, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for delivering best-in-class contract controls and P&L performance across designated multi-disciplinary services. Accountable for the commercial and cost management of a project or programme from inception to close out, ensuring maximum efficiencies and full compliance with all governance procedures. The role involves close collaboration with Technical, Project Management, and Project Controls teams.
Key Activities:
* Provide accurate live forecasting considering the project programme and reporting in accordance with SAP accounts, including internal resource charges, subcontract spend, procurement, and other associated costs.
* Ensure SAP accurately reflects project and framework contract status in terms of actual and forecast revenue, costs, work in progress (WIP), and obligations.
* Monitor and assess actual costs against the baseline estimate, including direct labour, plant & materials, and management bookings, challenging any variance to the plans.
* Implement robust project controls and accurate reporting of progress/work done, estimated costs-to-complete, and factor in all contractors' responsibilities.
* Administer NEC3/4 Contracts, including creating early warnings, payment certificates, compensation event notifications and quotations, and providing suitable responses to client communications.
* Demonstrate experience using electronic contract administration systems (Fastdraft, CEMAR, Conject, Aconex).
* Maintain proper records for audits and cost assurance.
* Provide robust estimates and quotations aligned to scope, considering all risks and opportunities.
* Align with the overall commercial strategy to ensure goals, targets, and objectives are delivered.
* Report any withheld, disputed, or disallowed costs to the Project Manager and Project Board, ensuring inadmissible costs are not included within project/programme costs.
* Actively participate in Contract Reviews and/or Project Boards.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Financial & Commercial experience of projects and/or term contracts.
* Contract administration experience working with NEC3/4 suite of contracts.
* Experience dealing with multidisciplinary operational and project teams.
* 5+ years’ experience in a contracting or customer commercial role.
* Commercial Management / Quantity Surveying Degree.
* Membership of a professional body, e.g., RICS (preferred).
