MFL Teacher Required
Location: Bournemouth
Contract: Maternity Cover
Teaching Personnel is seeking an outstanding teacher to cover the maternity absence of the current post holder in this subject area. This opportunity would suit an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT). The ability to teach KS3 and KS4 is essential, with the ability to teach KS5 being an advantage.
Teaching Personnel provides access to excellent induction, training, and career development opportunities through our partnerships and resources.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant and dedicated Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) team. The MFL department has a long-standing tradition of excellence in delivering high-quality language education, offering both French and Spanish from Year 7 through to Year 13. Students have the opportunity to study both languages from Year 9 onwards.
The department is actively implementing EPI (Extensive Processing Instruction) at Key Stage 3, complemented by a bespoke scheme of work tailored to our unique setting. In light of the new GCSE MFL specifications, the team has transitioned from Edexcel to AQA to align with other schools in the trust, promoting collaboration and expertise sharing.
Teachers in the department benefit from:
* Access to resources such as Kerboodle and Active Learn.
* Dedicated classrooms equipped with projectors and speakers.
* Two additional rooms for small-group conversation classes.
* Support from two permanent foreign language assistants who lead small-group work at KS4 and 1:1 sessions for KS5 students.
The MFL team is committed to fostering a love of languages through a variety of extra-curricular activities, including a lunchtime Languages Club for KS3, a cinema club for KS4 and KS5, and workshops in collaboration with the University of Southampton’s outreach department.
Minimum Requirements:
* Strong subject knowledge and a passion for teaching MFL.
* The ability to inspire and engage students at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 teaching experience is a plus).
* A commitment to contributing to the wider life of the school and department.
If you are enthusiastic about teaching languages and ready to make a positive impact, we would love to hear from you.
