Description
The Installation Engineer will be responsible for installing Trimble hardware (Base kit), including accurately measuring machine control systems on OEM (Trimble Earthworks, GSC900) dealer machines and customer construction equipment.
The role involves providing hands-on training to end-users on machine control systems and delivering technical assistance alongside the Technical Support and Application team.
This position requires remote working, with potential national coverage and occasional overnight stays. A customer-centric attitude, ability to work independently and in a team, and a background in plant, mechanical, or electrical engineering are preferred. On-the-job training will be provided.
The key responsibilities include:
1. Installation: Installing on-machine equipment across OEMs and dealer machines.
2. Service: Providing maintenance, troubleshooting, and support.
3. Measure & Calibration/Advisory: Calibration and re-calibration of equipment.
4. Operations: Supporting installation and planning, documenting testing.
5. Training & Development: Training end-users and promoting technology adoption.
6. Operational Support: Supporting teams, stocks, vehicles, and improvements.
7. Self-Management: Completing activities to high standards, in line with team requirements.
8. Results: Ensuring customer satisfaction, first-time fix, and timely delivery.
Specific Skills:
* Qualifications in Mechanical, Hydraulics, or Electronics engineering.
* Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical issues.
* Familiarity with construction site operations and heavy equipment control systems.
* Health & Safety awareness with up-to-date CSCS card.
* Experience in arc welding (useful but not essential).
* Basic PC skills including Microsoft Office and research capabilities.
Knowledge:
* Experience with construction equipment and technology.
* Knowledge of ground survey and digital field equipment.
* Understanding of installation, calibration, and service documentation.
* Experience working in a technology environment with hands-on training.
Accountability:
* Installation and Application Engineers.
* Customer installations and calibrations.
* Operations and service cost management.
Education & Experience:
* Experience working in OEM or dealer environments as a field engineer.
* Experience in service, operations, or technology roles.
* Strong safety and customer service skills.
