Closing Date: 4th May 2025

As a Ranger for the National Trust, you’ll be a hands-on member of the countryside team, involved in every aspect of countryside work across Felbrigg Hall, Sheringham Park and West Runton estates.
What it's like
Reporting to the Countryside Manager and Area Ranger, you'll be part of a small closely knit team. Responsible for day-to-day maintenance and the highest standards of countryside management, you’ll also play a vital role in improving the experience of visitors across the portfolio of properties. You will also be involved in managing the Wild Garden at Sheringham.
You will be working within the Countryside Team, so while based at Felbrigg, you'll also spend some of your time working in the Wild Garden at Sheringham. Roles within the Felbrigg team are highly sought after, and the team pride themselves on working to the highest standards. This is a good development opportunity.
Popular Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park show the North Norfolk landscape at its best. The rolling landscaped parks with a wild garden, woods, heathland, coast and waymarked trails are great for family days out. The portfolio contains 2 SSSI’s, 2 II* historic parks and many ancient trees.
What you'll be doing
You'll be helping to work towards our nature and access goals. You will be particularly involved in habitat management, especially woodland, checks to make sure all areas are safe for people visiting, routine tasks such as planting, felling, and using machinery such as chainsaws, strimmers, lawnmowers, and tractors.
Other duties include woodland and other habitat management, wildlife recording, maintenance of infrastructure, and engaging with visitors.
You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.

* happy to talk to all kinds of people about the work you’re doing, and why it matters
* a driver with a full UK driving license
* able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates
* ability to manage a demanding outdoor role
