The Special Care Dental Service is part of a countywide service providing NHS Dental treatment to patients on referral, from General Dental Practitioners, GPs and other health and social care professionals. We have clinics across the county, operating Mondays to Fridays, 08:30am to 4:30pm, as well as a domiciliary service
We are looking for an experience Dental Nurse as to cover for Maternity leave at Morley Street for three days Monday, Tuesday and Friday, with an agreement of change if not suitable.
• To work closely with the Dental Officers or Dental Therapists to ensure the smooth running of the service
• To be prepared to travel to any clinic sites as required by the Senior Dental Nurse Manager or Dental Nurse Manager
• Perform a range of work activities appropriate to that of an experienced or qualified dental nurse
• To ensure clinic meets all Health & Safety requirements and precautions, including quality assurance, decontamination of instruments and maintenance of equipment..
• To provide advice to patients and public on oral health matters.
• Responsible in following Trust Policy & local protocol
• Preparation of the clinical environment for patient care following all Special Care Dentistry and Trust policies & procedures, including Infection control
• Responsible for patient care before, during and after their treatment, monitoring the patient throughout, offering guidance and support in a way in which complement the actions of other team members
• Prepare clinical materials accurately, following manufacturers guidelines
• Assist during treatment using appropriate techniques to ensure procedures are carried out efficiently and effectively
• To provide empathy & reassurance to patients and respond to the patients’ needs for care, irrespective of the nature of their health problem
