Are you an experienced Mental Health Nurse who enjoys working in a fast paced environment? We are looking for dedicated RMNs to work within our integrated Mental Health & Substance Use Service at HMP Dovegate in Uttoxeter. These are new roles designed to support triage and assessment with men who are newly received into custody. You will work closely with members of the wider multidisciplinary Healthcare team to ensure that mental health needs are identified early and the appropriate level of care is provided in a timely way. HMP Dovegate is a Category B adult male facility for men aged 21 and upwards on remand or serving sentences. Main duties of the job
Working effectively within the team you will provide evidence based interventions. You will manage a caseload and will be required to undertake assessments and reviews. Using the Care Programme Approach, you will be a care coordinator, communicating effectively with those involved in the care of people in custody up to release. The role will require you to be a reflective practitioner, eager to work collaboratively with individuals, carers and other professionals to contribute to the delivery of an effective, dynamic, integrated mental health and substance misuse service. You will work with individuals from initial assessment through to discharge, which can include transferring care to other providers such as hospitals or CMHTs whilst working with a variety of agencies in the Offender Health Pathway. You will help to rehabilitate and support service users to live hopeful and fulfilling lives as members of the community. 1. Take a Recovery focused and holistic approach in working with the people who access our services.
2. Deliver care and interventions utilising the stepped care model, including provision of the CPA Framework where appropriate.
3. Assess people's needs to develop, implement and evaluate personalised care plans.
4. Facilitate therapeutic group work taking the lead where appropriate.
5. Deliver evidenced based interventions.
6. Identify people requiring hospital treatment and facilitate the timely transfer under The Mental Health Act.
7. Line management of Band 5 nurse where appropriate.
8. Some weekend working is required as part of this role.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
9. Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register.
10. Evidence of recent CPD and compliance with NMC revalidation.
11. Teaching Certificate including annual update (ENB 603) or related mentoring / coaching qualification
Experience
Essential
12. Considerable experience of working in the mental health field.
13. Experience of providing specialist interventions for those with mental health problems, counselling techniques, CBT, motivational interviewing.
14. Providing supervision and line management of staff.
