Sight Concern Bedfordshire is looking for an experienced Triage Officer to join our successful, experienced and expanding team based in Luton and Bedford - Office based with some home working .You will join us on a part time, 12-month fixed term contract and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £12.60 per hour (£24,309 FTE) plus 25 days holiday, 6% pension contribution. About the Triage Officer role: As a Triage Officer you will provide a central point of access responding to initial external enquiries and quests for information from Service Users. Assisting with the service delivery by screening all incoming enquiries and referrals, identifying initial needs and uploading details to our system whilst providing support to deliver an effective understanding of Sight Concern's Services. Responsibilities as our Triage Officer will include: Acting as the central access point for the charity, responding to initial external enquiries and information requests Making initial contact with those wishing to access our services, assessing their needs, booking clinic appointments as necessary and uploading their details onto our charity logs Conducting Triage Assessments upon initial referral and follow up to check and measure client wellbeing and progress Supporting the administration of the Low Vision service including clinic bookings, follow up and stock coordination Conducting onward referrals/signposting clients to any other Internal/External services that may be of benefit Maintaining effective and appropriate database records for all clients that are contacted by SCB - including demographic information and GDPR consents Skills, Knowledge & Experience we're looking for in our Triage Officer : A positive thinker with an energetic, enthusiastic and ‘can do' attitude Passionate about reaching out to the visually impaired community Excited by the opportunity to play a key part in a Sight Concern's growth Highly organised with the ability to deal with a variety of tasks Computer literate – competent and confident in the use of Microsoft Outlook and Office software Able to work independently and liaise with other members of the team as and when required Empathetic and caring - responding to callers and visitors in a professional manner An effective communicator Experienced in working with people with disabilities and an understanding of the needs of people with sight loss along with a knowledge of local and national service provisions for blind and partially sighted people (Desirable) Committed to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practices Benefits : This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to give back to the community.
