The Company The Company is a UK-based nutraceutical business specialising in the importation and distribution of raw materials intended for the manufacture of food supplements. A fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and expanding nutraceutical business. You will be part of a team responsible for a wide range of quality, office & laboratory-based duties. The successful candidate will report to the Quality & Site Manager but also support a number of technical and commercial staff, both inside and outside the company. The ideal candidate would have experience of working in a quality environment and would be desirable to have some understanding of basic laboratory practices. Your colleagues will support you to gain an understanding of the business and the markets in which it operates. This is an office-based role with standard hours of 8am 4pm. Main Responsibilities - Quality Assistant Maintain relationships with customers and suppliers to deliver products of high quality. Perform investigations relating to customer complaints, product safety and out of specification products. Maintain records to support the companys Quality obligations such as product specifications and supplier certifications. Update and maintain controlled documents including standard operating procedures and company policies. Carry out routine onsite audits which cover the hygiene & fabrication of the building ensuring the safety and integrity of products. Perform internal audits against our BRCGS S&D Quality Management System (QMS), and any other systems that we may implement. Manage risk to business operations through the completion of change controls. Completing Supplier Assessment Questionnaires (SAQs) for customers based on our products and quality processes. Develop knowledge of UK/EU Regulations related to product safety. Product sample preparation for external analytical and microbiological analysis. Approval and monitoring of product suppliers. Willing to work across departments if required to support wider business duties. Open to travelling abroad to represent the company at tradeshows. Main Requirements - Quality Assistant Necessary Fantastic verbal and written communication skills. A natural curiosity that would enable you to perform investigations to determine the root cause(s). An excellent eye for detail. Ability to work with high productivity and accuracy. A proactive approach and the willingness to share ideas. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams to meet deadlines. The ability to integrate with a diverse team. Desirable Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS). Knowledgeable in Food Safety systems and the importance of HACCP. Understand and able to interpret basic external laboratory testing results. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel. The ability to work to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). Annual performance bonuses would also be offered in addition to the base salary. Day to day work activities will be at the Belfield office in Ilkeston, but some travel to customer and supplier premises maybe required. This is a maternity cover position with the potential to go permanent depending on the needs of the business. A full clean driving license is desirable.
