We are currently looking to recruit a Highways Senior Supervisor, reporting to the Area Manager, to work on our Oxfordshire Highways contract in Drayton Depot, near Abingdon.
As a Highways Senior Supervisor, you will deliver assigned tasks within your depot, meet or exceed targets, while ensuring health and safety needs are met. There may also be requirements to visit other depots and supervise direct and subcontracted work. You’ll plan tasks according to the client's instructions and contract requirements – directed by the Area Manager.
You will also actively support all supervisors as required for each scheme, in the delivery of a pre-works assessment to establish the safest and most commercially beneficial method of delivering the works.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Lead 7 Supervisors:
o Review with each supervisor the labour, plant, material, and specialist sub-contractor requirements for each works order.
o Review with each supervisor the programme to monitor, review and hot cost against daily on specified software.
o Provide guidance to supervisors and/or daily management as necessary of the gangs, setting work targets, resource programme to include training, annual leave, and fleet utilisation.
o Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations, training requirements, Occupational Health assessments, and completion of relevant forms when needed.
o Support Supervisors with their annual Performance Development Reviews (PDRs).
* Liaise with County Council Officers and Inspectors as necessary in marking up and setting out of works and costing of works on specific activities.
* Ensure the quality of all works delivered is to the required standard.
* Review costs and ASTA on a bi-weekly timeline with Area Manager and supervisors. Report progress at monthly finance meetings.
* Support the daily update of all Resource Allocation Module sheets for all resources including the supply chain.
* Deliver Toolbox Talks (TBTs) and briefings as requested to your teams/depot and presentations on our safety cultural programme.
* Support the Area Manager and supervisors with inducting and briefing the gangs prior to works starting to ensure time, quality and safety targets are communicated.
* Lead and/or attend Supervisor meetings to share good practices with the wider team to ensure consistency of delivery across all depots and to improve overall performance.
* Lead in operative recruitment and onboarding within the assigned depot.
* Take ownership for safety, environmental and overall compliance for your depot.
* Lead in the management of Winter or Out Of Hours works as required.
* Mentor Apprentices as necessary.
* Work in partnership with our client.
* Lead on County wide projects.
Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
* Full driving licence.
* A good level of experience in Highways delivery and workforce (supply chain and direct) supervision.
* Experience within the highway maintenance industry would be desirable with CSCS, NRSWA Supervisor and SMSTS.
* NVQ Level 3 Supervision as a minimum (Training to be provided as required).
* Effective team management, leadership, motivational and influencing skills.
* Good general IT skills are essential including the use of Microsoft Office.
