Your main responsibilities on commencement of this role would be to complete your 6-month preceptorship programme and continue to develop in your role to be accredited as a PMA instructor. You will also need to complete your AET (Award in Education and Teaching). You need to have at least two years' clinical experience working in mental health or learning disability settings within the NHS or other Health Care Settings. You will have an interest in teaching, be passionate about reducing restrictive interventions and be keen to develop the theoretical knowledge required surrounding violence reduction. You need to be physically apt to complete the daily activities involved in teaching physical intervention and personal safety skills daily. Your main role and responsibilities will be to deliver the training, contribute to the day-to-day operational needs of the department, complete Health and Safety checks, prepare your teaching environment and comply with the Data Protection Act (2018) when completing relevant paperwork, and in discussions. Maintain and increase knowledge in legislation, national guidance and NSFT Trust policies which are relevant to PMA and the clinical settings. Complete all statutory and mandatory training needs as applicable to your role, with the willingness to complete additional learning specific to clinical practice in a timely manner. Be able to develop positive professional relationships with all grades, disciplines and service users in the clinical and teaching environments and be actively involved in team discussions. Be proactive and manage your own time effectively, share knowledge of your learning to the team and keep up to date e calendar information necessary for effective communication. You can recognise and be proactive in developing confidence to reduce and manage anxiety levels for our attendees to support their learning. You are willing to continue to develop your skills in teaching, effective communication and group management skills, can use your own initiative and recognise when to seek support and advice from your peers. You will be required to have the necessary ICT skills to deliver training and complete administrative tasks as required within your role. Training to deliver theory on Microsoft teams will be given.
