The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) is seeking a broad skilled IT Engineer with a friendly disposition to join our team of 100+ professionals based in Antarctica.

BAS IT strive to design, build and maintain the technology that has a long-lasting and positive impact on scientists and support staff. We expect all IT staff to work within the boundaries of change control and policy.
You’ll help us to provide operational and technical support for the IT & Data Management systems in the Antarctic. The IT Engineer will be a flexible and capable IT professional able to support a wide range of equipment. A large proportion of the work is the maintenance of existing equipment and daily routine support for scientists and support staff, but there is opportunity to be involved in larger projects.
Current projects the team are working on include the commissioning of the new Operations and Science Support building at Rothera Research station.
Your main responsibilities will include:
* To implement, maintain and support IT and data services at Rothera
* Upkeep of documentation
* Provide back-fill into the technical team comprising meteorology and electronic engineers
* Provide back-fill to support aircraft operations in the tower
* To fully contribute to the work of IT, data management and BAS as requested
For the role of IT Engineer we are looking for somebody who:
* Has a BTEC/National Diploma or equivalent in computing or equivalent working experience
* Has experience with any of the following; virtualisation, AD, storage, Veeam, networking
* Is adaptable and flexible
* Is friendly and fits with the team
