The role is to support the Financial Accountant in leading the Trust's Treasury function and manage and schedule the work of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
To support the senior finance management team in delivery of the finance services development (FSD)/ Future Focussed Finance (FFF) for the department with the aim of achieving and maintaining level 3 accreditation.
Main duties of the job
A) Team Management
1. Responsible for the management of wte staff within the section, employed across the receivables and payables service function.
2. To schedule the work of staff members so that all tasks are performed on time and planning for notified absences on the section and to make sure that objectives and expected outcomes are clearly explained.
3. Confirm the deadlines for completion of key tasks within the Financial Accounts section and ensure that they are agreed with other managers
4. To act as the departmental lead for FSD/ FFF accreditation (with the aim of achieving and maintaining level 3) including the creation of a project team to assist with the collation and maintenance of an evidence log.
5. Lead with the management of freedom of information and other media requests for the department with a financial input .
B) Accounts Payable
6. To oversee the accounts payable function and ensure that the Trust is in a position to pay its suppliers accurately and on time in accordance with the BPPC.
C) Accounts Receivable
7. To oversee the process to ensure that all accounts receivable invoices are raised as appropriate and according to timetable and to take the lead on reporting the Trust's aged accounts receivables position and active management of outstanding queries
8. Manage the level of planned provisions for bad debt and credit notes and ensure they are actioned at regular intervals in line with Trust policy.

Qualifications
Essential
1. CCAB or CIMA qualification - part qualified or significant relevant experience in a financial services role in a provider NHS organization, including capital management.
2. Evidence of continuing professional development
3. Understanding of financial coding structures
Desirable
4. Educated to Degree Level
5. Experience of supporting completion of final accounts for an NHS provider organization
6. Experience in providing financial support for charitable accounts.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
7. Experience of working within busy Finance Department.
8. Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable management experience.
9. A proven track record in implementing and improving financial services functions.
10. Experience in leading and developing staff.
11. Experience of working with others to ensure direction and policies are attainable within available resources.
12. Experience of involvement with FSD/ being a FSD lead
13. Experience in encouraging and achieving development of both staff and self.
14. Providing support to the wider finance team and taking an active role in progressing the strategic vision for the department, progressing objectives such as Future Focused Finance accreditation.
